All about the Salad Dodgers...
The Salad Dodgers are a Norfolk based rock/blues two-piece band. We have been playing the blues since early 2005, now we've our own funked up blues style...
Tim Birtles: Guitar, Keys, Harmonica, Vocals...
Steven McCloy: Drums/Percussion, Guitar, Vocals...
Tim lives in Reepham, Stiv in North Elmham. We started off playing in Stiv's bedroom with friends, then when he lost interest we started busking in the summer of 2005. In theory our first gig was testing out our busking act in Elmham to a small bunch of six or seven five year olds! Although this may sound like a bad start they were impressed, calling us ROCK STARS before they went mental and attacked us (playfully of course).
We started busking in Dereham, but we only went once as the atmosphere in Norwich the following week was a lot better. We made substantially more money and we got the added bonus of interest from young ladies! (many of whom now count as fans) money?- £120, not bad for guitar and an old marching drum.
Our first real gig was supporting a local black metal group in front of about 60 people in Great Ryburgh. Everyone said we were good and we got paid £5 and a couple of pints of lager...Who can complain?
Now we're in the circuit playing a variety of venues includin Pubs, Clubs (including NORWICH ARTS CENTRE)... .
Not to mention playing with Circus and FOURPLAY!
